Brown (Spotted/Marble)
The most common bengal coat color is the brown bengal. Brown bengals can range between light brown to a very dark brown. Brown Bengals can be found in red and yellow hues. Some of the darker brown cats can have deep cool colored tones.
Genetics
The Brown color is dominant to all but silver. I will go into this more on the silver page. Brown cats can carry recessives and produce different colored offspring when paired correctly. The gene responsible for the color Brown is (B). Located at the Brown Loci are also b(Chocolate) and b1(cinnamon). The (B) gene is responsible for coding for the Enzyme called tyrosinase. This enzyme is responsible for eumalinin production which is responsible for the black tones in the cat. If a cat is cinnamon or chocolate (both recessive) you will not have black expression but will have brown or a light brown pigmentation.
